Hamilton plays as a guard and small forward for the team. He has earlier played for the Washington Wizards of the NBA for first three seasons of his career before being traded to Detroit in 2002 for Jerry Stackhouse. He is among the NBA,s top shooting guards and was also nominated for the named Most Outstanding Player when UConn won the NCAA tournament in 1999. During the 2004 season playoffs, Hamilton wore a face mask due to a previous injury to his face. Later he won the NBA Championship in the season.

He helped the Pistons to win NBA titles in 1989 and 1990..Thomas was the owner of the Continental Basketball Association from 1998 to 2000 and later was the coach of the Indiana Pacers from 2000 to 2003. Isiah Lord Thomas III was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001. Thomas is presently the president of basketball operations for the NBA's New York Knicks.
